Different types of drill bits are designed for different rock formations. Typical examples are low-abrasive drill bits for hard dense rock and high-abrasive drill bits for strong abrasives. Impregnated diamond drills are currently made mainly of synthetic diamond crystals. The drill bit can obtain good technical and economic results when working at a higher speed. First, the bit composition and working layer size  The impregnated diamond drill consists of a carcass and a drill body, as shown in Fig. 5-23 (a). The carcass is divided into working layer and non-working layer, in which the non-working layer is only mixed metal powder. The working layer contains mixed metal powder and diamond, with a layer height h = 3 to 6mn1, depending on the quality of the drill gauge material. If the inner and outer diameter wear too fast, the value of h should be taken as a low value, generally 5mm. The H value is generally 10 12n1m. When the value is large, the drill bit has good stability, but the residual core may be more.
